Anza BorregoAnza Borrego Desert State Park sprawls across three counties. First explored by Juan Bautista de Anza in 1775-76 while looking for an overland route to the California coast. It is California's largest State Park and one of the most remote and hottest State Parks in California. It ranges from below sea level to '8,000. Its a popular destination for RVers from LA and all over the country. Many come in spring to see all the desert wild flowers blooming. The park features the old stage coach road and Stage Coach stations, the hidden town of Borrego Springs, the Agua Calienta Hot Springs and the site of a Kumeyaay winter village. But mostly people come to enjoy the wild life including Big Horn Sheep, Granite Night Lizards and remains of ancient camels, horses, cheetahs and ground sloths. Mountain Biking , dune buggies and 4x4 trails are also popular.
